Nimic

Scent of a woman

It’s better to ask advice from people than books

People are strange beings. We seem to always need a second opinion for anything before making up our own minds. Throughout history, people relied on advices to help them choose more wisely, from a mere peasant asking another, to a king listening to his advisors and counselors. As our culture advanced, books became tomes of knowledge and so they sometimes would be as important as their weight in gold or even more. Nowadays, it seems that both sources for advices are obsolete. Books may still be used and people could still be asked for advices, but they are now just sources for the simple-minded, mostly.
We cannot handle problems on our own. That’s the general population’s ideea of how things work. Whenever we are faced with some kind of a problem, we need to unleash some of the tension by asking someone else about it and making them worry a little bit about our predicament for us. Problems are everywhere and for everything: ‘Does my shirt look OK or should I wear something else?’; ‘Should I get a puddel or a siamese cat?’; ‘What should I do about that stain?’; ‘Do you think I should tell my husband about my affair with the gardener?’.
Advices from people are often just confirmations of what you already decided to do, but just weren’t strong willed enough to go with the decisions you made. All books also send out advices, either directly, or indirectly, but they all do. The only problem with books is that they are either generalized or super individualized, so their advices are not the best solution for you in any way.
The best advice one should always follow would be:
Don’t follow advices. You’ll think more that way.

A simple advantage

The city bus had just dropped me off close to where I live and I finally decided to go to the local barber shop and get a haircut. I don’t often think about it, but in my life I’ve always preferred simplicity, which in turn brings forth relaxation. So, when I’m going to the barber I like simplicity as well.
- How would you like me to cut your hair?
- I like it simple, mow me down with number 2.
- You want me to go all the way, with number 2?
- Yes, I’m sure.
While she was trimming away and leisurely removing my cluttered hair, I was just thinking about the pleasurable feeling of her hands on my head. Her supposedly free hand was always resting on my head, but it felt to me almost like an embrace.
- This was so simple and easy. I’ve finished up in no time, she said.
- I know, that’s why I like to get my hair cut this way.
From then on, things were real simple for the both of us. I got my hair cut the way I wanted and it felt like I did her a favor as well. That is why I only paid the exact amount required and didn’t leave an extra tip, because my debt was paid in the form of that simple hair-do. When I left, the woman wished me a polite and sincere “Good evening!”

*Note* - This is an older article of mine, translated from Romanian, meant to be used for my English exam for this year.

I'm sinking...

Knowledge is an illusion. Wisdom is the gift.

When one has knowledge, he is called upon by others to share that knowledge with them. After the knowledge is passed on, the giver has lost his usefulness.

When one has wisdom, he is called upon by others to enlighten them with his wisdom. Then, the giver becomes useful again.

Plauzibilitate
